About Ts. Tengku Intan
Ts. Tengku Intan, being recipient of the Transformative CIO 2022 by ET CIO Southeast Asia award is a significant achievement, especially in the men’s world. She remains resilient throughout her career as a working mother of four children and a supportive husband.
Her colorful journey started with graduation from Sheffield Hallam University with a Master’s Degree in Computer Studies. She was the first Malaysian student to receive the Fret Downing Award for Best Student in 1993. Throughout her career, she has consistently navigated the technology sector, starting as a technician, advancing through roles as a network and system engineer, and ultimately ascending to the C-suite. Even at this executive level, she remains deeply involved in managing IT operations.
Experiencing Challenges as IT Practitioners
With nearly three decades in the IT fields, she’s seen the biggest hurdles for businesses going digital: from finding the right talent, updating old processes, and getting everyone onboard to be digital. People are so used to how things are done that it’s hard to switch to new systems and new ways of working. But things are different now. Before, digital was just a tool to help businesses. But after the pandemic, it’s become a game-changer, shaking up entire industries. Her advice is to urge everyone to embrace the digital revolution now to remain competitive and stay ahead of the curve.
Her legacy continues…
Continuing her colorful journey, she was pleasantly surprised to receive an appointment as an Adjunct Professor with UNITAR International University, a certified Professional Technologist by the Malaysian Board of Technologists, and frequently invited as a distinguished guest speaker at both national and international conferences.
As a practitioner herself, she is deeply passionate about sharing her expertise. Today, she has authored several books on digitalization, aimed at assisting both individuals and organizations in embracing their digital journey. You can explore her series of books on this website as well.
